IHS Outstanding Professional Member Award
This award is presented to an IHS member that has made the most significant contributions to the advancement of the International Hearing Society’s values and goals, including: advancing and enhancing the professional identity and status of IHS membership; advancing a mutual respect among hearing healthcare professionals; assuring IHS members’ eligibility as providers in the hearing care delivery system; advancing professional qualifications and standards in the hearing aid dispensing field; and educating the public about the profession’s role in hearing loss identification and hearing healthcare delivery.
Examples of actions contributing to a candidate’s worthiness for this award includes but is not limited to:
- Someone whose volunteer activities are “Making a Difference” in the professional and larger community, including with IHS and relevant state/provincial chapter
- Seeking to educate the public about the importance of hearing healthcare and role of the hearing healthcare provider
- Recruiting hearing aid dispensing professionals to join IHS and chapter
- Shares personal experiences and assists in the professional development of newer/less experienced members, even when they may be enhancing the qualifications/skills of competitors.
- Involvement in mentoring programs
- Donates personal, financial, and/or material resources to support IHS and/or state/provincial chapter efforts
- Consistently places the interests of the profession ahead of personal interests
Eligibility: Nominee must be a current Professional Member of IHS and have been a member for at least the five preceding, consecutive years to be eligible to be nominated for this award.
Nomination requirements: To be considered, applications must include a completed nomination form, a support statement of at least 200 words, and any supporting documentation. The nominator must be a current member with at least five preceding consecutive years of membership. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

IHS Emerging Professional Award
New in 2018, the IHS Emerging Professional Award seeks to recognize the professional member of IHS who has best demonstrated his/her dedication to the mission of IHS, including expanding the role of hearing aid dispensing professionals through IHS and chapter participation, leadership, volunteerism, and/or professional growth.
Eligibility: Any Professional Member of IHS who has been licensed and practicing for 5 years or less is eligible to be nominated for this award.
Nomination requirements: To be considered, applications must include a completed nomination form, a support statement of at least 200 words, and any supporting documentation. The nominator must be a current member with at least five preceding consecutive years of membership.

Presented each year to an individual or organization who has accomplished extraordinary achievements in advocating for the hearing impaired.
Nomination requirements: To be considered, applications must be submitted by an IHS member and include a completed nomination form, a support statement of at least 200 words, and any supporting documentation.

The International Hearing Society Chapter of the Year Award
The Chapter of the Year Award recognizes the chapter of the International Hearing Society that has made the most significant contributions to the profession and/or industry at large through chapter development, advocacy, public relations, and meeting/educational initiatives.
Eligibility: To be eligible for the IHS Chapter of the Year Award, the chapter must be in compliance with IHS Bylaws, Article XI – Chapters; and have provided IHS leadership an opportunity to fully participate in its event, which includes, but is not limited to, providing IHS the opportunity to present the IHS message in the conference, provide complimentary exhibit space at the event, and attend the chapter membership meeting.

- Government Relations
