Widex USA: Expanding Care Beyond the Hearing Clinic
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm • Intermediate Level • 1 Continuing Education Credit
Following similar trends in the healthcare environment, the span of how we provide hearing care now includes the ‘real’ (outside) world in the solutions and technologies that we offer as well as the methods that we use to provide them. This includes patient-driven solutions like SoundSense Learn, which uses Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to allow patients to customize their listening in the moment based on their individual intention. It also includes exciting telehealth solutions like Remote Care that allow us to provide value to our patients even when they are unable to visit us in the clinic. Both innovations have shown high user acceptance and have remarkable impact on patient satisfaction. This course will discuss these trends, and how to implement new types of care into your clinic to maximize value while reinforcing the patient-provider relationship.
Redux: Enhancing Patient Outcome Through Innovative Drying Techniques
2:15 pm – 3:15 pm • Intermediate Level • 1 Continuing Education Credit
Redux has developed an innovative drying system and an integrated enterprise level software application to manage the drying system. Redux has installed over 2200 dryers in the mobile phone retail environment and has recovered over 20,000 smart phones. The patented technology is based on lowering the boiling point of water under a vacuum which allows water to vaporize and escape the tiny cracks and crevices of small electronic devices. Redux is now expanding their footprint into medical devices, with a focus on hearables (hearing aids, cochlear implants, hearing enhancers). Redux has developed an audiology specific solution based on the proven GenX platform dryer. This newly launched drying system can detect minute amounts of water (0.5 uL) and measure and display the water removed. The drying system has been shown to remove water from hearables that have previously been deemed dry as a result of using the present available dryers.

The tremendous success of Oticon Opn has raised the bar on dealing with the number one unmet challenge faced by those with hearing loss — speech understanding in noise. Opn, with its ultra-fast Velox platform provided access to all relevant sounds in the listener’s soundscape, thus delivering what the brain needed most to make sense of sound. Now with our new technological developments, we raise the bar even further. In this session, we will review how Oticon Opn S, takes sound clarity and audibility to the next level. Faster than its predecessor, our new Velox S platform enables technological improvements that allows the practitioner to prescribe optimal gain and enables even more open fittings than before. Hearing impaired listeners can now experience even better speech understanding in difficult listening environments with less effort.
